Youroutdoorsonline.com has a great number of features that are available to it's users. This article should help you become better acquainted with them and how to use them.
User Profile: The user profile is the site's representation of you. It contains your log book, avatar, list of buddies, information blurb, and a listing of recent activity on the site and recent blog posts. When viewing another user's profile, a user may add them as a Buddie (remove as Buddie if the user is already a Buddie), private message them, an post to their log book.
Log books function much like other social networking site “walls.” It records the activity you perform while at the site, and users can post to it and comment on posts.
Avatars are graphical representations of yourself on the site. They do not have to be your picture, but whatever picture you use you must own the rights to that picture OR have permission to use such picture. To change you avatar, go to your profile page (My account on the left hand navigation) and click edit on the list of links above your profile. To add a picture as an avitar scroll down to “picture” and up load a picture. All images must be 150x150px and be under 100 kb.
To edit your information blurb, simply go to your profile, hit edit, and click about in the top links. All of the fields are optional, so feel free to fill out as much, or as little, as you would like.
Invite a friend: This feature is a under my account and will appear in the left hand menu when viewing your account items (such as your private messages, relationships, or other user profiles). This form will allow you to send invitations to sign up for the site to your friends. Simply type in a list of email addresses, separated by commas, and the site will do the rest. Your friends will be automatically added to your buddy list when they sign up.
Blogs: Blogs are provided to all users. They can be used to comment on anything that is within the site's user restrictions.
Galleries: Users are encouraged to keep a galleries of images. By clicking on Add Gallery, you can upload your images to your gallery to share with your friends. It's that easy to show off that nice 5x5 buck, or that amazing camp site you visited.
Hot Spots Maps: We highly encourage users who have been to an amazing spot to share it with others. That's what hot spots are for. By clicking on View Hot Spots you will be presented with a map of places where you can go and visit. If you know of a spot you would like to share, you can do so by clicking on “Create Hot Spot” located in the left hand menu. Users can create hotspots pertaining to camping/hiking, fishing, hunting, stores, or miscellaneous.
Forums: The forums are the spot to share ideas, communicate, or discuss almost anything. Our forum functions much like any other forum on the web.
