New Member. Only a moment to browse site. Any N.Y. outdoorsmen out there? How about Pa. Checked a couple of blogs- looked old, nothing fresh. Maybe I need to look around more! Give me a shout if your interested enough to reply. Don't hold your breath if I don't respond quickly - I'm relatively busy most of the time, hence the "burning the candle at both ends"!

For some reason I can't send other picturs of the same size as the first one. Please advise. Oh, need any advise on marriage proposals?

So we've been working for a while coming up with a new design for the site. We rolled it out last night, so if your thinking to yourself things seem a bit different, your right, they do. Nothing functional with the site has changed, just the way it looks. So what exactly is different?
Our back ground mountains are now real mountains, and the dusk version of the sky has changed as well. At left you may now notice that the site has a log cabin inspired lattice work. The user navigation (also at left) is now self contained and hopefully easier to read.

Hey everyone, as Outdoors (our site's mascot) noted in our forums, the blogs were being renovated. So what's going on with them? Well, we sat down and decided that there were some problems with the blogs.
1. they looked boring.
2. anonymous people could not post replies.

When I took a buck this year, I kept the liver, rather than leaving it in the gut pile for the coyotes. My family's not big on organ meats, but I had seen some recipes that called for deer liver and I wanted to try it.
Here's the basic recipe I followed yesterday to make venison liver pate:

As Andy says, there are givers and takers. There's a lot of people who contribute tremendous effort for the oudoors. On balance, at least around here, I think those efforts show themselves in the pretty high quality of our public access areas.

I pull up to one of the dozen or so parking lots scattered widely around the Holly State Game Area in northern Oakland County, planning to be the first guy in the woods. No dice. Two trucks are here already. Yes, it is 5:45 a.m. on November 29 and the sun’s first light is over an hour away. Yes, it is 10 degrees. But no, I am not first.

Let me preface this by saying my family owns a small piece of land that we use for hunting. Lately I've been noticing a disturbing trend in the area of total lack of respect property in the area.
All started when, after leaving my tree stand chained to a tree for an extended period of time (I was trying to make the deer accustomed to it's presence) I found it missing, chain and all, on the opening day of bow season. My solution? I found a tree I could easily sit in, but pulled a muscle in my back climbing into it.
